Milling vs. Thermoforming
Thermoformed devices are of uniform thickness, with only 2 thickness selections to be tailored to an individual patients' needs. They are designed to put the foot into the proper position based upon the doctors examination and casting. The uniform thickness, however, does not allow the patients' foot to flex anywhere whether it is needed for control or not.
Custom milled devices are specifically tailored to an individual patients' needs. They are designed to put the foot into the proper position based upon the doctor's examination and casting. Thickness is specifically tailored based on the patients specific weight and arch height PLUS the flexibility desired by the physician!
These devices allow for maximum control where needed while reducing bulk and allowing for additional flexibility in the non-controlled areas.
